About Us...
The Excelsior Trombone Ensemble excites audiences with a rare versatility, offering programs that span Renaissance, classical, jazz, pop, and modern idioms. The ensemble has been featured in concert halls, colleges, and sacred spaces across the Northeast, and often performs in collaboration with vocal ensembles and organists. Their highly acclaimed educational programs in schools and universities are part of their ongoing commitment to artistic creativity for young audiences and aspiring professionals alike.
The members of Excelsior have performed extensively in orchestras throughout North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. The Finger Lakes Times praised them as “one of the premier brass groups in the country…they all play with superb musicianship…(and) are wonderful ambassadors for their instruments and professional musicians in general”.
Excelsior has been featured in repeat national broadcasts on public radio’s “Performance Today”, including the premiere of “Service Music”, commissioned by them from New York composer Paul Brantley.
Members of the Excelsior Trombone Ensemble perform on alto, large tenor, small tenor, and bass trombones.
